About ALCS

What we do

We make sure you receive the money you’re entitled to as a writer, when someone copies or uses your work – anywhere in the world.
What we do

What are ‘secondary uses’ or ‘secondary rights’?

The money we pay our members is from ‘secondary uses’, where someone uses a work that’s already been distributed – such as when schools photocopy books they own, or libraries lend books.

Campaigning

Read about how we campaign to have authors’ rights recognised and respected in the UK, EU and internationally.
Campaigning

Our heritage

Set up in 1977 by writers for writers, we’re still owned by our members.

Where the money comes from

We collect money from all over the world – find out where, exactly.

Our team
